So we’re experimenting with life without a TV. Freeview has been unplugged, the cables disconnected and the TV is in the garage where it will stay for the next month. If at the end of that month, we decide life is better without the TV, then we’ll have a TV to give away and a licence to cancel. I wonder how long before I get withdrawal symptoms?

      Good idea.

I lived without TV for over a year at one point and loved it.

      Questions:

      1) Will you still use the internet at home?
      2) Will you use iplayer?

Not had a TV for over 5 years now. I keep up with the news and watch selective programmes online so I don't waste my time. An exception is the series 'FlashForward', which we go round to watch with the in-laws, making it a social affair.

      I don't think you'll miss having a TV – I don't.

Having said all that, it is the world cup next year…

Initially we'll still use the internet at home and we may use iPlayer. It depends, chances are we'll stop thinking about TV programmes but the option of choosing our entertainment online is there. Why do you ask?

We don't have a tv, and I've never lived in a house with one since moving to London after leaving university 14/15 years ago. Can't say it's missed – Radio 4 gives the news and entertainment, with the odd music station and CD thrown in for good measure and we'll sometimes watch a DVD on the laptop. I do wonder how we'd ever have the time to watch anything if we did have it, to be honest – though I also wonder if, as our daughter grows up, we'll succumb in the long run! Good luck!
