Idolatry. It’s a word I’m spending much time on at the moment and Greg Dutcher has written a punchy little book on it. He’s aware that there’s a lot of cool stuff out there and God has some competition in our lives.
The book has essentially three aspects to it and I’ll just quote the author:
In his assessments and insights he’s pretty sharp and most of the language will cross the Atlantic without too much trouble.
The chapters are short, the language is straight forward, the illustrations are accessible and the applications are sensible. In short this is a book you could give to more or less anyone. I shall recommend it on Sunday. For the thinkers and avid readers I’d recommend Tim Keller’s Counterfeit Gods instead.
