I quite like dates like the above, I’m a bit sad like that. Anyhoo today’s links have a consumerism, culture, technology vibe to them. Some thought provoking stuff here
- More evidence (if any were needed) that our consumer economy is wired wrong. This op-ed from the Washington Times says in the US the economy is slow to recover because heavily indebted Americans are saving not spending. How unpatriotic.
- Perhaps business could be more co-operative?
- On the subject of money Andrew Peterson says it’s not the root of all evil and has some good things to say about simplicity. Although his concept of a small house is a little off.
- The idea that we generally have too much stuff is taking hold and there is now even a dedicated day to do it and a website to help you!
- Tim Challies posts on the role of Facebook in ministry. His last point is particularly apt.

That give your stuff away website is better than the wardrobe clearout for Oxfam being organised by Marks and Spencer today. The offer is that if you bring in some old M&S clothes you don’t wear any more, they’ll send them to Oxfam, and you get a £5 voucher for M&S (which only qualifies when you spend over £35 in store). So not really a wardrobe clearout, more a clearout of Marksies stores and more consumerism!
