Since I began blogging in 2006 I’ve regularly tinkered and generally messed around with my blog (confession here with links to other confessions) and here I wondered about switching from blogger to wordpress. Obviously that question is redundant now because here I am on WordPress.

I’ve been blogging for a few years now and it’s become a bit more than just a hobby for me. It’s a place to try out new ideas, experiment, catalogue the vast tracts of information I come across, store book reviews, journal on my life and have conversations with others on shared areas of interest. Through the blog I’ve made some good friends. So I’ll keep investing in something that on the whole is bearing good fruit for me.

So I decided to do it properly, got a domain name, a sleeker, smarter and more powerful platform (I think) and some design input (given not all my tweaks have been successful on that score).

The design is down to Todd Hiestand, I like what he’s done with the place. Todd is a web designer, church leader and blogger.

The site will get a few tweaks here and there as I become more familiar with the new blogging tools at my disposal and add and sort the posts into more helpful and useful forms, sort through the categories and so on.

The chair is a simple thing, a place of comfort to read books and make your home in. The one here looks like a good reading chair to me. Make yourself comfortable. There are 3 main parts to this blog:

    1. the book reviews I read and the ones and I write
    2. the links to things I find interesting from all over the place
    3. the things I write myself that I hope will be interesting to others (this is often about consumerism, culture and Christ but a few other things too)

So now you can find each one of those things from the front page, sorted and easy to find. You can connect with me by Twitter and Facebook.

You’ll also find links to some key things for me: the church I’ve led since it was planted in 2003, the Christian bookshop I co-own and the network for simpler living I co-founded with some good friends of mine.

Of course we’re more than the things we do and relationships are crucial. None more important than those with my wife Emma and son Noah. They make guest appearances in the photos and blogs.

My aim is to seek out a richer way to live and that forms the basis for much of what I think and write about. I hope in doing so to discover more of what it means to follow Jesus Christ in the 21st Century. I hope you do too. Thanks for stopping by.
